Xmas Update: Competition, Portland, and Products

OK, so I just (about four hours ago) returned from my little excursion down south to the Portland, OR area, and figured I should do what I do and blog about the journey and some prior occurring events (wow that sentence is horrible).

Xmas. I won! That is right, I won the xmas competition this year. As you would expect I was probably competing against myself, but that is merely a technicality and I still deem myself the winner. I figure, since xmas is ’supposed’ to be the season of giving, it only makes sense to see who can give the best gift. And, with that in mind, I won. Now to be fair, my lady gave me a nice gift; a great gift. However, her great gift was nanosized compared to my gift … keys to my house. I know, I know, for folks who do not know me it probably does not seem like a big deal, but if you knew me personally, than you would understand. In fact, I can see all of my male (and some female) friends’ jaws plummeting to the floor in utter amazement. Something to the effect of “Keys? Fonzo? Are you f’n serious?” Trust me, I was just as shocked when I decided to do it. Anyway, onto the Portland trip…

Portland, OR is great. Me and the lady decided to do a little shopping, and, what better place to do shopping than Portland, OR. Speaking of shopping, while I was down there I picked up a little over a half-dozen shirt/tie sets (you have to love the professional attire), and my Sony DSC-W5 camera that I have had my eye on for the longest time. Actually, I have had more than my eye one it, as since I decided I wanted that camera, both my ladies mom and my brother have managed to purchase it, so I have had my fair share of time behind the lens.

Now, before I headed South the original plan was to pick up the Sony DSC-W7 (same camera just more mega-pixels, black casing, and I do not know anyone who owns one), but due to the good deal I received on the camera, my mind was changed. Now, in the good ‘ol state of Washington I would have spent $326.38 ($299.99 camera + $26.39 tax) for the camera, plus $114.23 ($104.99 memory card + $9.24 tax), for a total of $440.61. However, thanks to an unadvertised special at Target, Oregon having no sales-tax, and the nice folks at Sears willing to do a price-match, I managed to pick up the camera and the memory card for only $349.98. I practically got the 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for free. Sweeet!

Oh, and just as an FYI, my old camera, a Sony DSC-S70, is going to be put up for sale. I have not figured out how much I want to sell it for, but if you are interested, feel free to make a reasonable offer. To my nephew, go ahead and give me the ‘ol “you should give me…” speech now. I know it’s coming sooner or later. As for sample images, look on the above posted website or in my photos (the photos on my site are scaled down in size/quality).

On that note, it is time for this update to come to a close. Adios, enjoy, and be on the lookout for some brand spanking new pictures from the brand spanking new digi-cam. WoooHooo!
