Weekend Wrap-Up

I was going to give a nice intro, but I would rather just jump right into the goods:

phone: About a year ago I came up with the idea, which so many people hate, of hanging my phone from my neck via my SanDisk lanyard. As people started to go “umm?”, I swore that I would one day start a trend. Well, as it turns out, it happened … sort of. I spotted a few people on campus sporting their cells like necklaces, and even had one mention that he got the idea from me. Well, after seeing my trend take flight, and not wanting to be one of the crowd, I was considering putting my phone back in my pocket. Well, as luck would have it, the next day, the piece of my phone which the lanyard “was” attached to broke off, leaving my phone incapable of being attached to a lanyard. Sad huh? I surely did think so. Although, I know of a few people who were happy of my misfortune, stating they never liked my phone-necklace anyway. Bah!

fall back: Today seems (or maybe it is) the longest day ever. I woke up at 10:30 (actually 9:30) and have been sitting at my desk reading almost all day. It feels like I have been sitting at my desk for about 8hrs, and yet, it is only 5:34pm. Grrr. That means I have another four hours of studying before I can get some serious shut-eye. WHACK!

diploma: I finally found it! Some time ago (about a year), I had the bright idea to put my community college diploma in a frame and place it on my wall somewhere. However, when I went to my fathers house to snag it, I could not find it. I checked high, low, left, and right, but the diploma was nowhere in sight (rhyming unintentional). Anyway, each time I went to my dad’s house I looked for my diploma. So this weekend, while digging through an old box tucked away in the corner of the house under some other old boxes, I found it packed away with some unopened mail (bills, solicitations, etc.). So tomorrow I am off to buy a nice cheapo frame for it. WoooHooo!

iPod: I finally got a case for my iPod. It took me, well, however long it has been since I ordered the thing to find a case. I have been checking every store I could think of, and nobody carries cases for the things. Well, by pure luck, one day while in Circuit City returning some speakers which were not worth the $10 I paid for them (see below for additional details), I happened to stroll by the iPod accessories and saw that they had a few Nano cases available. I quickly snatched up the most non-ugly one I could find (the black and red one) and headed towards the checkout. Sweeeet!

Speakers: As mentioned above, I had previously purchased some new speakers for my computer. To be more specific, I purchased the Creative T3000 speakers for a whopping $10. Well, after about 2 days use, it was time for the speakers to go back to the store. The problem? Interference! Whenever my cellphone was with a few feet (basically in the same room) of these speakers, I would get some terrible feedback. Needless to say that that was completely unacceptable, so the speakers had to be returned. The unfortunate part was that when I got those worthless speakers, I handed my old pair off to my ladyfriend. And seeing as how I try not to un-gift items, I was going to be stuck with no speakers (even more unacceptable).

Fortunately for me, I was able to snag a pair of Logitech X-530’s for just under $40. It took a few days for them to arrive, but ooohhhh aaaahhhh was it worth the wait. The speakers are good, REALLY GOOD!! There is a small amount of interference when I have my phone sitting right next to the speakers, but if the phone is more than a few (about 3) inches away from the speakers, I get absolutely NO interference. In addition, the speakers just sound incredible. Heck, the bass is even strong enough to feel in the next room. Double WoooooHoooo!!!

Closing: I have now spent 30 minutes writing up this blog, and another 10 minutes editing most of my grammatical mishaps, which means it is time for me to get back to reading about Mr. Frederick Douglass. Adios.
