Those were the words that poured from Kanye West's mouth during a relief concert being broadcasted live on just about every major news network. In addition, West also touched on the structure of the US, stating that America was designed “to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible.”
Now, I am not a huge fan of Kanye's, as I feel he thinks of himself just a little too highly. However, I must give the man credit for this one. He put his career on the line by saying those words on live television, and, I agree with him. Bush doesn't care about black people, or any of the poor white people that were/are stuck in New Orleans. If he truly cared that poor people were dying, it would not have taken him 5 days to visit or send help. In addition, if he did care, the first words out of his mouth would not have been focused on getting oil production back, it would have been about saving the thousands and thousands of poor/black people who are suffering.
Anyway, good job Kanye West. I think the statement is 100% correct, and was 100% necessary. I just hope people listen.
UPDATE:
OK, so after a searching the net for a little bit, I found a video of the entire tidbit with Kanye West. As an FYI, the video is encoded in Quicktime, so if you do not have it, get it. Personally, I absolutely love the video. Only thing I would change if it was ME on the television, is I would not target it specifically to black people, it would be targeted towards poor people. Because we all know Bush, and just about every other government official who came from a rich family, couldn't care less about what is happening to poor people in this country.
