Elevators

Elevators crack me up. Not the elevator itself, but the people who use the elevator. Ever notice how people automatically get as far away from other people as possible while in the elevator? It’s funny. If you ever are in an elevator with another person (who you don’t know), I bet you’ll find yourself standing on one wall, and them on the other. What is up with that? I just don’t get it. People act like they’re going to catch something, or perhaps break some unwritten elevator etiquette law if they don’t evenly space themselves out on the elevator. There is however, occasionally that one person who doesn’t follow the law and is just a little to close to one person. Why does that person always look extremely uncomfortable? It’s great stuff.

My all time favorite elevator moment though, is before people get onto an elevator. One person will be standing there, patiently waiting on the elevator to make its way. Then someone else will walk up, look at the brightly lit button … and … press it again. What is this person thinking? Do they think it was just a coincidence that someone was standing there and the button light was lit? Or is it that the person already standing there is not competent enough to effectively operate the elevator? Maybe they think they’re a better button pusher? Better yet, maybe pushing the button again will make the elevator move faster? Yes, it obviously makes the elevator move faster. You would think that would be it…but no, along comes some other individual, and through the folks he moves, to push the already lit elevator button. It’s never ending … and always funny (to me).

And now, I need to go study for my midterm and write my 2 page paper that’s due. Dam blogs!
