I was going to make this update last week sometime, but somehow I broke my computer so I was unable to post it until today. Anyway, I got some interesting stuff for you folks. First on the list, and I can’t even believe this exists, are some autographed Kanye West (College Dropout) CDs. I’m not surprised by the autographed CD, as this is kind of common. What I can’t believe is that people are paying $70+ for one CD. I mean, does having the CD autographed make that much of a difference? I have my favorite artists, and I would drive a few hours (or more) to go watch them in concert, but I there is no way I would pay that type of money for an autograph, no matter who the artist was. But then again, maybe I’m just cheap.
Another interesting thing going on these days is that a new California state law was recently passed that gives civillians the rights to sue police officers for things such as false arrest and illegal searches. The greatest thing about this law is that it holds not only the officer responsible, but also the government in general. I think this is a smart and necessary move since corporations are responsible for what their employees do while in uniform, and, since police are nothing more than employees of the state, the state should be responsible for what officers do while in uniform.
Also, you’ve probably read about it because it’s pretty big news, but Winamp has a serious flaw in all of its media players that will allow hackers to run executable code on your machine through music files and websites. Of course, Winamp recommends everyone update to the newest 5.03 version to fix the flaw. Personally I think this sucks, as I’m not a fan of Winamp 5 at all. Winamp was a great player back in the 2.9x development days, but now it has turned into a bloated, slow, resource intensive average player. I guess that’s what happens when AOL gets their hands on a nice piece of software and starts putting their two cents into it. For those of you who are like me and refuse to upgrade to the latest and non-greatest version of winamp, you can find a fix for older versions here.
